Holly Sparkman joined the YWCA of the Quad Cities board of directors in 2006 and currently serves as Board President. She has over 20 years of communications/public relations/marketing experience and has been the Communications Director of the Rock Island-Milan School District for the last 8 years. A graduate of Augustana College with a bachelor degree in Art History, she lives in Rock Island with her husband of 20 years, Tom. They are parents to three adult boys are enjoying being “empty nesters” along with their three rescue cats and two rescue dogs.

Amy Balensiefen joined the board in 2015. She has over 15 years of strategic planning, project management, manufacturing, supervisory and commercial negotiation experience. Currently she is responsible for Deere & Company’s sourcing strategy for agriculture, utility vehicle, commercial mowing and riding lawn equipment transmissions. Amy earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of Iowa and Bachelor of Science from Western Illinois University. She is a former leader of John Deere’s employee resource group for women and minorities in addition to being a founding chair of the Quad City United Way Young Leaders committee. Overall, her passion both inside and outside of work aligns wells with the YWCA mission. Amy married a fellow WIU graduate and they live in Geneseo with their two children. They also have two very large cats who are currently on a diet.
Kelly joined the Board in 2016. Kelly currently works for UnityPoint Health Trinity as the Director of Imaging Services and Respiratory Therapy. Kelly has been with UnityPoint Health for 25 years spending the first 21 years at \Methodist in Peoria and then transitioning to the Trinity 4 years ago. While in Peoria, Kelly served on the United Way Allocations committee, Komen for a Cure Committee, local Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program and Co-Chaired the Methodist United Way Team. Since transitioning to the Quad Cities area, Kelly has joined the Women’s Connection, participated in small grants allocations for United Way in Muscatine and in the Komen needs assessment project.
Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield and a Master of Business Administration from University of St. Frances. Valuing her original profession, Kelly maintains a Certified Radiology Administrator certification from the America Hospital Radiology Association.
Kelly lives on a small farm in rural Alexis, IL and has been married to Randy for 24 years. Together they have 4 adult children; they laughingly refer to as his, hers and ours. The compilation of children brings with them the blessing of 9 beautiful grandchildren.

Darcy Smith is a 37-year employee of Royal Neighbors of America. A long-time member of the organization’s sales department, she currently is a Member Engagement Specialist on the Philanthropy Team. Darcy has received the following designations from the Life Office Management Association, FLMI, AIAA, AIRC, AAPA and ACS. An active community volunteer, she has participated in fund-raisers for various non-profits including the Child Abuse Council, the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society, Junior Achievement, and the Children’s Therapy Center. She also led a fund-raiser that netted more than $10,000 for Haiti relief. In addition, she has participated in a variety of Junior Achievement programs; leads a homeless meal program; is a member of the Women’s Connection, the St. Joseph the Worker House board, and the Rock Island YWCA board; was the recipient of the YWCA’s Hearts of Gold Award; and is a graduate of the Illinois Quad City Chamber of Commerce Leadership Academy.

Patt joined the Board in April 2016. Patt retired in 2014 after a 30 year career in non-profit executive management positions including Director of the Better Business Bureau of the Quad Cities, Director of Health and Safety Services at the American Red Cross of the Quad Cities and President/CEO of the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from St. Ambrose University.
Prior Board experience includes Dress for Success Quad Cities, Founding Board member and Chair, Chamber of Commerce and Associated Employers. She has also served on national and regional board while in the blood banking industry, including the American Association of Blood Banks and Blood Center’s of America. She currently is an active member of the Davenport Rotary club and serves as the Charitable Giving committee chair and serves on the Local Community Services committee and the Membership committee. She has also served as a volunteer Rotarian counselor for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. She is a member of the Iowa Women’s Foundation Quad Cities Advisory Council. Patt also volunteers with the Operation Read program through United way and volunteers through her church.
Patt lives in Bettendorf with her fur baby, Sadie, a playful yellow lab! She has a son, Brian, who attends college and is trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life. She is recently widowed, having been married to her late husband Jim for 24 years.

Tracey Hustad joined the board in 2016. She currently is the HR Director for the Automotive and Aerospace Products business unit within Alcoa Inc. She has worked in various roles at Alcoa starting as an engineer in 1991. She has an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from University of Wisconsin – Platteville and her MBA from University of Iowa. She has been an active volunteer with Alcoa sponsored activities such as Junior Achievement, Habitat for Humanity, Day of Caring / Month of Service, and Employee Resource Groups. She is also on the trustee’s board for her church and mentors women both inside the company as well as part of the WOMEN Unlimited program. Tracey and her wife Lori live in Bettendorf with two long-haired dachshunds that keep them busy and entertained.
Kelly Kreiter Penning
Kelly Kreiter Penning joined the Board in 2015 and is currently the Governance Committee Chair and a member of the Social Change Committee. Kelly is the Director of Human Resources at Clysar and an adjunct instructor St. Ambrose University in the areas of Human Resources, Leadership and Conflict & Mediation. She has over 20 years of manufacturing industry experience in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Safety, Coaching and Continuous Improvement. Currently Kelly is also a Board member at Hand in Hand, a Board of Trustees and classroom volunteer with Junior Achievement, volunteers with Rainbow Riders, engaged in the development of a Miracle Field in Davenport, Church Council Secretary and Worship and Music Team Lead at Faith Lutheran Church. Kelly and her husband Jared live on a small farm in Le Claire raising a variety of animals to share with youth throughout the Quad Cities.
