Located in the former Hyman's Furniture store at 1600 2nd Avenue in the District of Rock Island, the place2b is forthe homeless youth in the Quad cities to go for help orjust to hang out in a safe, welcoming environment where they can alsoget a good meal.

The place2b is open from 3pm to 9pm, Monday through Friday and is for youth between the ages of 14 and 18. Eventually, the YWCA would like to see the place2b opened as an emergency overnight shelter.

The place2b features a media room with furniture, a television and games. In order to become a member, a parent or guardian's consent is required. It is also required that teenagers agree to work on getting their lives moving in a positive direction by working on homework, tutoring, job skills, life skills, prevention education (drug counseling) and self esteem.

Starting this fall, the YWCA will offer after school care from the end of the school day until 5:30 pm at Frances Willard Elementary School during the school year and at the YWCA during school breaks.
