:: Child Care Programs ::Eliminating racism, empowering women -- it's what we are about and what we intend to do.All child care programs offered by the YWCA of the Quad Cities provide fun learning experiences for young children and youths. Our positive, developmental approach to learning includes social, emotional, intellectual and physical activities for each child.The YWCA Child Care Center program is for children 6 weeks through 12 years. The programs provide an emphasis on sharing, manners, self-esteem, respect for others, self-responsibility, self-discipline and cultural heritage. Intellectual and physical priorities include development of large and small muscle coordination, problem solving, verbal expressions, hearing and visual learning, listening skills, reading readiness and creative expression.The YWCA Child Care Center operates on a sliding fee scale which is based on family size and income. For a tour of our facilities, and/or more detailed explanation of our programs, call Taryn Johnson at 788-3479 x 18.:: Youth Programs :: The Three O'Clock Project is an after-school program for at-risk youth in the Rock Island/Milan School District. The YWCA provides transportation to and from the program, which operates from 2:30 - 5:00 p.m., four days per week. A wide variety of fun and educational activities are offered for the children, including substance abuse programming, anger management, arts, science, drama, swimming, field trips and recreational games.Teen Parent and Child Education Center is a day care center provided at Rock Island High School that enables teenage parents of infants and toddlers to complete their high school education. The center is licensed for children 6 weeks to 30 months. Operation hours are from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. weekdays when school is in session. |
